About Me

Julie copyWelcome to JuliEdible! – a creative name my daughter developed.

It’s a place for me to share my thoughts and experiences about all things food –   recipes, restaurants, daily cooking experiences and food adventures.

In a nutshell, I’m a wife, mom, published freelance food writer, beach lover, and CT native with a 100% Italian heritage.  Professionally, I have over 25 years of marketing, product development and communications experience in Fortune 500 health care and financial services companies.

My History as a Foodie:

I do not claim to be a professional chef or a short-order cook, although some times I feel like it in my kitchen.  To my credit, I am known in my social circle as a good cook who makes great food.

I have never taken a formal cooking class.  I am a self-taught cook with a 100% Italian heritage and generations of outstanding cooks for inspiration. I make a mean spaghetti sauce and meatballs, just like my mother and grandmothers.  It’s in our blood.  Because of that, I admit that I am a meatball and spaghetti sauce snob.

I am a big proponent for “Eating Local.”  In support of that, for the past 3+ years I’ve joined a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) with a local farm.  I love having a shopping bag of “fresh from the farm” produce that I hand select every week.  The fun comes in figuring out what to do with it. I also love going to the local farmers’ markets during the growing season.

I am not an expert farmer, but grew up with a big garden – you know the kind that takes up half the backyard.  I do find it necessary to grow fresh herbs.  You will always find some growing on my deck or kitchen windowsill.

I am a fan of certain celebrity chefs, cooking shows, food websites and Pinterest.  They all help spark my muses!

I invite you to follow me in my foodie footsteps!
